Jocelyn Pickford

A former White House Fellow, Jocelyn Pickford joined Margaret Spellings & Company in 2009, building on an expansive career in education and communications in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She now executes strategic policy research initiatives, analysis, and communications for Margaret Spellings and Company.
Prior to joining the firm, Pickford served as the Education Director of Hope Street Group, a public policy non-profit organization, where she developed the strategic plan for the organization’s education platform, analyzed relevant legislation and programming, and collaborated with key stakeholders. From 2007-2009, Pickford worked as Special Assistant in the Office of the Secretary and Chief of Staff in the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education. While there she designed, launched, and implemented a competitive Fellowship program that seeks to integrate classroom teachers into the national education policy debate.
Previously, Pickford taught high school English in Fairfax County, VA public schools, and worked as a professional writer and editor. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and a Master’s in Education from the George Washington University.
